I’m thinking about doing a small project on the Mini tomorrow and am considering painting the black plastic trim piece that goes over the intercooler. I’ve seen these painted the body color and look good, but my car is a very pedestrian dark silver and doubt that would look good. Therefore, what colors do you guys think would look alright? This is the piece in question (not my car but you get the idea)

Pick something else in the engine bay to match it to. Maybe the plug wires, or consider painting the coolant tank to match.

Or, after some creeping, you could do red to match the flaps.

Gauges are all orange/red and the interior is an assortment of light and dark gray. Nothing really to work with as I’d like to stay away from red

Screw it then. Remove it and toss it in the bin. Add lightness. Speed is the best colour.

As much as I agree with the sentiment its hard to justify when the timing of my last meal would have a greater effect on weight than the that 2 0z piece of plastic, haha

No, I’ve got it. Just paint the S red like on the sides of the car. Then colour the hood scoop/nostril (?) black. Love hen those contrast with the hood.

I would suggest a blue. Probably on the lighter side to contrast well with the dark grey
